tips for your shoot

Schedule for Golden Hour
To achieve the most enchanting and captivating lighting for your photoshoot, we highly recommend scheduling it during the magical time known as the Golden Hour. The Golden Hour refers to the period shortly before sunset when the sun is low in the sky, casting a warm and soft glow that adds a touch of ethereal beauty to your images.
Timing your photoshoot during this precious window allows us to harness the captivating qualities of the natural light. The soft, golden hues create a flattering and romantic atmosphere, enhancing the overall aesthetic and creating a mesmerizing visual impact. The gentle, directional light during this time casts captivating shadows, adds depth to your photographs, and creates a warm, inviting ambiance.
While scheduling your photoshoot during the Golden Hour is ideal for capturing enchanting lighting, we understand that it may not always be possible. Rest assured that we have the expertise to make the most of any setting and lighting conditions. Whether it’s finding shaded areas to soften harsh sunlight or utilizing diffused lighting on overcast days, we adapt and employ various techniques to ensure you get the best photos from your session.

Do not wear tight clothing to your shoot
Wearing tight clothing before a photoshoot can result in unsightly red marks on the skin, which can be time-consuming to edit out. As photographers, our priority is to deliver the highest quality images to our clients. However, when faced with the task of editing out these marks from hundreds of pictures, it becomes a tedious and time-intensive process. To ensure a smooth and efficient editing workflow, we kindly request that you avoid wearing tight clothing that may leave noticeable marks on the skin. This small consideration will greatly contribute to the overall quality and timely delivery of your final images.

Do not wear hair ties on your wrists and double check your nail polish
Hair ties can leave noticeable indents on your wrists. To avoid these unsightly marks, we recommend removing hair ties a few hours before your scheduled session. By doing so, you’ll help ensure that your skin appears smooth and flawless in the final photographs.
Additionally, we ask that you to double-check your nail polish before the photoshoot. Chipped or worn nail polish can be time-consuming to edit out in post-processing. We understand that maintaining a perfect manicure can be challenging, but taking a moment to touch up any imperfections will greatly contribute to the overall aesthetics of the images.
The “What to Wear” section is just to give you some ideas to enhance your photoshoot.
The “What to Wear” guide serves as a helpful resource with generally accepted guidelines to create beautiful photographs. It offers suggestions and recommendations to assist you in making wardrobe choices that enhance the overall visual impact of your images. However, it’s important to note that there are no strict rules when it comes to fashion for a photoshoot, and sometimes breaking the conventional norms can result in stunning and unique outcomes.

Wear complementary colors
Choosing complementary colors for your attire can enhance the visual impact of your photos by creating a striking contrast with the background. If your photoshoot takes place in a location with vibrant green grass, consider wearing shades of reds and violets to make you stand out. For a session amidst the beauty of fall leaves, incorporating purples and blues into your wardrobe can complement the warm tones of the foliage. When shooting on snowy terrain, opt for blacks and darker hues to create a visually captivating contrast against the white backdrop. By carefully selecting colors that harmonize or contrast with your surroundings, you’ll add depth and visual interest to your images, making them truly eye-catching.

Wear layers
For your comfort and flexibility during the photoshoot, we highly recommend incorporating layers into your outfit, especially when the weather is unpredictable. By wearing layers, you have the ability to adapt and create different looks throughout the session by simply adding or removing pieces.
Layering not only allows you to adjust your clothing to changing weather conditions but also adds depth and texture to your overall ensemble. It offers a wonderful opportunity to showcase your personal style and create visual interest in the photographs. You can experiment with different combinations of clothing items, such as jackets, cardigans, scarves, or even accessories like hats or statement jewelry.
Wear interesting textures
When planning your photoshoot, consider adding an extra touch of visual interest and personality by incorporating intriguing textures into your attire. The choice of textures can significantly contribute to the overall aesthetic and create a distinct and memorable feel for your photographs.
Leather, with its smooth and sleek surface, adds a touch of sophistication and edginess to your look.
On the other hand, lace offers a delicate and romantic quality. Its intricate patterns and ethereal transparency can create a soft, dreamy atmosphere in your images. Wear a lace dress, blouse, or even subtle lace details as part of your ensemble.
Cable knit sweaters or other textured knits introduce a cozy and warm element to your photos. These soft, chunky fabrics create a sense of comfort and lend a casual, relaxed vibe to the images.

Wear something comfortable
It’s crucial to prioritize comfort when choosing your outfit for a photoshoot. Keep in mind that these sessions can span several hours, and we want you to feel at ease and free to move without any discomfort. Opting for comfortable attire is essential to ensure an enjoyable and relaxed experience throughout the duration of the shoot.
While it’s tempting to don those glamorous 6-inch high heels, it’s important to consider practicality and long-term comfort. We recommend opting for footwear that strikes a balance between style and functionality. Choose shoes that you can comfortably walk and stand in for extended periods, as we may explore various locations and compositions during the shoot.
Dancers, gymnasts, and cheerleaders should stretch before your shoot
For dancers, gymnasts, and cheerleaders participating in a photoshoot, it is essential to prioritize your physical well-being and take the necessary steps to prevent injuries. To ensure a safe and enjoyable experience, we strongly recommend incorporating a stretching routine before the session begins. Arriving 15 minutes early to your scheduled shoot will provide ample time for you to adequately warm up and stretch your muscles.
During the stretching process, focus on both dynamic and static stretches. Dynamic stretches involve continuous movements that gently activate and warm up your muscles, preparing them for the physical exertion to come. Examples include leg swings, arm circles, or gentle torso twists. Static stretches involve holding a specific position to elongate and relax the targeted muscle groups, promoting flexibility and preventing muscle tightness or imbalances.

Dancers, gymnasts, and cheerleaders should practice poses beforehand
As a dancer, gymnast, or cheerleader, you possess a deep understanding of your body’s capabilities and limitations. To ensure a successful and enjoyable photoshoot experience, we encourage you to take the time to prepare and plan your poses in advance. By doing so, you can align the shoot with your unique skill set and avoid attempting movements that may be beyond your current abilities.
Preparing poses the day before the photoshoot allows you to assess which positions showcase your talents and highlight your strengths. Consider selecting poses that accentuate your flexibility, strength, and artistic expression. By choosing poses that you are comfortable with and have mastered, you can ensure a seamless and confident execution during the session.
